Any student enrolled to IUE undergraduate program needs to choose a Second Foreign Language for the first four (4) semesters. For the continuing semesters, courses will be programmed as Elective Courses.
The selected Second Foreign Language can be changed regardless of being successful-unsuccessful and grade point average for one time only throughout the entire study of the student.
The Compulsory Second Foreign Language program, which lasts for four (4) semesters, aims to make students achieve level A2 in the scope of Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The Compulsory Second Foreign Language course from a previous semester is a prerequisite of the Compulsory Second Foreign Language course from the next semester. Student needs to get at least a grade of DD from the Compulsory 2nd FL course from a previous semester in order to enroll to second foreign language courses. Prerequisites of elective second foreign language courses are determined by the Senate.

However, if they wish, these students may take the exemption exam administered at the beginning of each semester or enroll to the course.
Students, who want to be exempt from Compulsory 2nd FL courses, can take one exemption exam for the respective semester at the beginning of each semester (excluding summer semester).
Terms for taking an exemption exam:
