ITALIAN The Language of Education – Business – Culture
One of the main purposes of Italian Language Program within Izmir University of Economics School of Foreign Languages, Second Foreign Languages, is to train qualified individuals, who know Italian language and culture profoundly, in our country which is in the process of joining the European Union.
Italian is a language for education;
Principally, Italian courses are offered to all students for four hours a week for 8 semesters at IUE. Every year, many number of Erasmus students go to Italy in order to receive training at Italian Universities and do research. Therefore, these students are expected to know B1 level of Italian as a prerequisite. Perugia, University for Foreigners CELI foreign language competency exam is being administered at Izmir University of Economics since 2010. Also, a student who knows Italian can easily learn Spanish, French, or Portuguese.
Italian is a language for business;
Commercial and cultural relation with Italy, which is one of the founding members of EU, is increasing each passing day. Especially, when we take the investments by Italian businessmen on Bursa into consideration lately, learning Italian would satisfy an individual both commercially and spiritually. Today, just in Aegean Region, there are 49 Italian based companies operating business (http://www.cciizmir.org/index.aspx).
Italian is a language for culture;
To know this language enables us to comprehend the literature which helps us understand the history of Europe; understand Italian television, cinema, opera, music, and theatre better. Therefore, Italian is especially one of the top choices for Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design students.
