Purpose and Scope
Article 1- (Changed: SD-02.05.2018-340-A/7-BTD-02.05.2018-43)The purpose of this regulation is to determine the rules and principles in order to promote all full time lecturers employed at our university to make publications internationally, and it covers the procedure within this framework.
Definition and Classification of International Publications
Article 2- The scientific publication scanned by ISI Web of Science (WoS) data bases is identified as “International Publication” in these principles.
Article 3- Each academic personnel, who publishes a full article in a scientific journal scanned by ISI Web of Science (WoS) indexes, is awarded with the amount stated in Article 3.1

Article 3.2. (Changed: SD-26/10/2015-258-A/5 -BTD-03/11/2015-12)The amount of promotion stated in Article 3 per international publications with 7 (seven) or more authors is calculated by dividing 5000TL, which is the highest award in this scope, to the total number of authors equally. If the amount of promotion per person falls under 400TL, no payment will be awarded.
Article 3.3. Each publication of an author in the same journal is awarded separately.
Article 3.4. A publication is awarded for one time only.
Article 3.5. The publications, which have not been scanned by Web of Science (WoS) indexes yet, are not awarded in advance.

Article 3.7. (Changed: SD-26/10/2015-258-A/5 -BTD-03/11/2015-12)The full articles, published in journals which demand handling fee, page charge, article processing charge, etc. even though scanned by Web of Science (WoS) indexes, are not included in the scope of promotion.
However, full articles published in journals which demand application fee or delivery fee, and journals in TUBITAK–ULAKBIM Incentive Program for International Scientific Publications are promoted within the scope of this regulation.
(Publications such as Conference Proceedings, Technical Notes, Letters to the Editor, Case Presentations, Discussions, Pre Announcement of the Research Results, etc.)
Article 4-Change (SD 06/09/2017-320-A/8-BTD 03/10/2017-35 ) Each academic personnel, who has a paper published in a scientific conference proceedings book scanned by WoS indexes (CPCI-S, CPCI-SSH), or owns a patent scanned by WoS innovation index (DII), or whose technical notes, letter to the editor, case presentation, discussion, pre-announcement of the research result, editing, story, book, film and software critique, scientific letter, review, scenario, etc. is published in journals scanned by WoS indexes, is awarded with the amount stated in Article 4.1.

Article 4.2. (Changed: SD-26/10/2015-258-A/5 -BTD-03/11/2015-12)The amount of promotion stated in Article 4 per international publications with 5 (five) or more authors is calculated by dividing 2000TL to the total number of authors equally. If the amount of promotion per person falls under 200TL, no payment will be awarded.
Article 4.3. Conference proceedings presentation needs to be certified in order to receive award for conference proceeding.
Article 4.4. The provisions under Article 3.3-3.5 are also valid for publication payments stated in Article 4.
(Books, Book Editing, Chapter/Section of a Book)
Article 5- (Changed: SD-26/10/2015-258-A/5 -BTD-03/11/2015-12)3000 TL for each book with an academic content scanned by WoS indexes; 1500 TL for editing books or special edition journals; 1000 TL for a chapter or a section of a book is equally divided among the academic personnel who contributed to the work. If two or more of the above-mentioned criteria are fulfilled for the same book, the author is given the highest of the promotion awards.

Article 5.2. A work is awarded for one time only.
Article 5.3. The books, which have not been scanned by Web of Science (WoS) indexes yet, are not awarded in advance.
Article 5.4. An original copy of the work subject to promotion should be provided along with the claim to be kept by the corresponding office.
Application and Evaluation
Article 6- Applications will be accepted until the end of the year following the date of the publishing.

Article 8- Academic personnel, who publish two full articles in an academic year as stated in Article 3, may be assigned 1/4 or 1/3 less lecturing, in the academic year following their publications with the approval of the related Faculty Dean/School Director.
Article 9- In order to benefit from the promotion stated in these principles, the full name of Izmir University of Economics must be presented clearly distinguishable from the rest of the text, in the language that the book is published, and without abbreviations. If there is more than one publication subject to promotion in single journal/book/proceedings, the name of Izmir University of Economics must be indicated separately in each publication. Otherwise only the publication where the name of the institution is indicated will be awarded.
Article 10- Written claims to be made within the scope of promotion of international scientific publications will be submitted to the approval of the Vice Rector in charge of Academic Affairs with a copy of the scientific publication, the relevant regulation, and a print out that shows the scientific publication has been scanned by WoS indexes following the consent of the relevant department head and dean.
Article 11- A superior work or service, which is not covered under the principles for promoting scientific publications but contribute to the prestige and recognition of the University in a great deal, may be awarded an amount determined by the Board of the Trustees with the recommendation of the Rector and approval of the Board of Trustees.
Article 12- These principles take effect on the date of the approval by the Board of Trustees of the Izmir University of Economics.
Article 13- The provisions stated in these principles are executed by the Rector of the Izmir University of Economics.
This regulation takes effect upon the decision of the Senate dated 09.02.2012 and numbered 186-A/8 and the decision of Board of Trustees dated 20.03.2012 and numbered 19.
