    Course Objectives The objective is to make students understand the main theme on familiar and routine matters such as Italian society, Italian lifestyle, travel to Italy, Italian holiday habits by using a clear and standard language. Students can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken. They can produce simple connected text on topics, which are familiar, or of personal interest. Can talk about an event, experience or an impression; describe an expectation, and verbalize reasons or explanations about an opinion or a project in simple terms.
    Learning Outcomes

    The students who succeeded in this course;

    • Listening: The student will be able to comprehend the main points in a clear, standard communication –if spoken slowly- on common subjects which are met frequently in surroundings such as work, vacation, and trips. (For example sport, leisure activities, cities, health, daily events or radio and television programs which are regarding personal interests.)
    • Reading: read and comment on all kinds of newspapers, journals, magazines, articles, course materials, brochures in which they can have a good command of perspective on daily Italian life, Italian lifestyle and society.
    • Mutual speaking: make comments by comparing Italian society and own society. Express opinions about current problems of Italian society. Ask for directions while travelling in Italy, get information about their travels, and make travel plans.
    • Oral explanation: make comments about Italy, Italian traditions and customs, Italian society, importance of Italian language, Italian gestures and mimics.
    • Writing: write texts where they can compare Italian society and other societies. Write travel brochures, travel plans.
    Course Description The aim of this course is to make students, who are Basic Users in the scope of Common European Framework of Reference, achieve Independent User – B1.
