    Course Objectives The aim of ING 110 is to help students develop basic English language skills at the A1–A2 level. Throughout the course, students are expected to improve their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in an integrated manner and communicate at a basic level on topics such as daily life, past experiences, future plans, social life, and personal interests. The course also aims to enable students to use basic grammatical structures in meaningful communicative contexts and produce short oral and written texts.
    Learning Outcomes

    The students who succeeded in this course;

    • Students who successfully complete this course will be able to communicate orally and in writing at a basic level on familiar topics such as daily life, education, social life, past experiences, and future plans,
    • identify the main idea and specific information in short written and spoken texts and apply skimming, scanning, and inferencing strategies,
    • use basic grammatical structures (to be, simple present, present continuous, simple past, future forms, comparatives/superlatives, modals, and articles) accurately in basic spoken and written communication,
    • use basic vocabulary and expressions related to daily life, travel, technology, culture, shopping, skills, and leisure activities in appropriate contexts,
    • give short descriptions about themselves, their families, daily routines, past experiences, and future plans and exchange basic information,
    • express information and experiences at a basic level by writing short paragraphs, e-mails, notes, and descriptive texts.
    Course Description This is a compulsory English course at the A1–A2 level in which reading,\nwriting, listening, and speaking skills are developed in an integrated manner.

    4 Describing places using there is / there are – Developing vocabulary related to travel and home life – Expressing daily habits using adverbs of frequency – Writing descriptions of places and homes. SFL Materials
    5 Using have got / has got structures – Talking about school life, schedules, and personal belongings – Expressing possession using possessive structures – Writing a short text about weekly schedules. SFL Materials
    6 Using present continuous tense – Using expressions related to clothing, fashion, technology, and social media – Describing current activities and online habits – Talking about present activities. SFL Materials
    7 Comparing present continuous and simple present tense – Expressing emotions – Asking and answering questions about places and transportation in the city – Writing short texts comparing routines and current activities. SFL Materials
