Funda Yesilyurt graduated from Department of Foreign Language Education of METU. She joined Izmir University of Economics in the same year. She has the Certificate of Teaching Grammar and the Certificate of Teaching Vocabulary given by IUE. She successfully completed ICELT(In-service Certificate in English Language Teaching, Cambridge University), in 2007.

Selin Tanış graduated from Middle East Technical University, the Department of Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) in 2016. She received her M.A in English Language Teaching (ELT) from Middle East Technical University in 2019. She has been working at Izmir University of Economics, School of Foreign Languages since 2018.

Born in Istanbul in 1977. Graduated from Izmir Turk Koleji – Anadolu Lisesi. Holds a BA in American Culture and Literature, Hacettepe University, Ankara, and has her MA in International Relations, Dokuz Eylul University, Institute of Social Sciences, Izmir. Formerly worked as an English Teacher at American Collegiate Institute. She has been teaching English at Izmir University of Economics, School of Foreign Languages, for the past sixteen years.

Ebru Demir was born in İzmir, 1979. She graduated from İzmir Özel Fatih Koleji and continued her education at Boğaziçi University, Istanbul. She received her Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature from Boğaziçi University in 2001. She taught English at private language courses. She worked at Yaşar University as an English instructor until she joined Izmir University of Economics in November 2004. She has successfully completed the TDC Part 1 awarded by the British Council. She also holds the Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Sheffield Hallam University, UK in 2008

Feyza Özdemir graduated from 9 Eylül University, the Department of English Language Teaching in 1997. She had worked as an English Language Instructor at TÖMER and Ege University before she started working at Izmir University of Economics in 2005.

Beril Kebapçıoğlu graduated from Dokuz Eylül University, English Language Teaching Department in 2003 with high honours. In the same year she joined İzmir University of Economics, School of Foreign Languages as an instructor of English. In the summer of 2005, she went to England, Sidmouth International School, where she received the certificate "Overseas Teachers of English". She has received certificates for vocabulary and grammar teaching. She successfully completed “Teacher Development Course” awarded by the British Council. She received her M.A. degree from Dokuz Eylul University, Department of Educational Sciences, Division of Curriculum and Instruction in 2008. She worked in the Curriculum and Material Development Unit/IUE between 2010 and 2015. She is still working as an instructor of English in the School of Foreign Languages.

Murat Özdemir graduated from Selçuk University, English Language and Literature Department in 1993. He worked for Ankara University TÖMER Language Teaching Center at different branches as instructor of English, Director of Education and Head of English Department between 1993-2001. Later on he worked as a manager of a private language school. Finally he joined Izmir University of Economics in 2002 and has been working as an Instructor of English, editor of the web site of The School of Foreign Languages (sfl.ieu.edu.tr), and administrator and assessor of interactive digital platforms used at the School of Foreign Languages.

Michelle Necla Keskin was born in England in 1981. She holds a BA in English Language and Literature. In 2004, she received her English Teaching certificate from Ege University. She also successfully completed I-CELT awarded by Cambridge University in 2006. She worked as an English instructor at Dokuz Eylul University between 2004 and 2006. In her first year there, she was a member of the Material Development Unit. A year later, she became a member of the Testing Unit. She joined Izmir University of Economics in September 2006. She worked in the Curriculum and Material Development Unit from 2008 to 2014. Since 2014, she has been working as an Administrative Assistant at IUE.

Idil Kırıkkaya was born in Izmir in 1979. She graduated from Anadolu University Faculty of Education English Language Teaching Department in 2001. After her graduation, she started working at Anadolu University School of Foreign Languages as an instructor. She joined Izmir University of Economics in September 2004. She holds an MA degree from Dokuz Eylül University on Division of Curriculum and Instruction. Between 2006 and 2008, she worked as a member of the “Material Development Unit”. between 2008 and 2015, she worked as a member of the testing office at İzmir University of Economics. In 2009, she attended a series of training sessions on “Modular System and Its Implications” presented by Keith Morrow.

Burcu Beatrice Yavaser was born in Edmonton, Canada in 1974. She grew up in Edmonton, Alberta and received an advanced high school diploma before enrolling as an undergraduate at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. She graduated from the University of Alberta where she obtained a degree in Economics and International Relations in 2000. Before graduating from university, in 1997, she received her TEFL certificate from Alberta Vocational College. She worked for a financial consulting firm for about two years after graduating from university. In 2002, Burcu Beatrice came to Turkey and worked in language schools and private schools in Istanbul before joining IUE in 2004. In 2006, she attended a “Six Day Course on Testing” and was awarded a certificate by Pilgrims. In 2009, she successfully completed the “British Council ELT Diploma Course”. In May of that same year, she attended a series of training sessions on “The Modular System and Its Implications for Testing” presented by Keith Morrow. In September of 2009, she attended the “ALTE Introductory Course in Language Testing” and “ALTE Course in Testing Listening” in Venice, Italy. In 2014, she successfully completed the "Management in ELT" course and received a certificate. She obtained a CELTA from Izmir University of Economics. Currently, she is working towards her DELTA. Burcu Beatrice joined the Testing Unit at IUE in 2005 and has been a member since then. She has interest in exploring different areas of assessment, measurement and evaluation and designing assessment tools. She attends workshops and courses related to assessment, measurement and evaluation. Currently, Burcu Beatrice is the Academic Coordinator of the English Prep Program.

Dilge Yılmaz graduated summa cum laude with a degree in English Language and Literature from Ege University in 2014. She received her master’s degree in English Language and Literature from Ege University in 2017. During her studies, she was granted with DAAD and TUBITAK-BIDEB scholarships. She holds SIT TESOL Graduate Certificate. She speaks English, German, French and Italian.

Gulsah Yaglidag was born in Izmir. She graduated from Ege University with a B.A degree in English Language and Literature in 1999. Having received her Pedagogical Training Certificate she started her career as an English Instructor in Foreign Languages Department at Ege University in 2000. With a dissertation on 'The Concept of Otherness: Arundhati Roy, Ruth Prawer Jhabvala and Deborah Moggach`s works in the Postcolonial Context', she received her M.A degree in English Language and Literature at Ege University. In 2001 she was awarded the certificate in 'The Teaching of English Grammar to Adults' by The British Council. She is a keen attender of ELT workshops and seminars. She completed a 40-hour-training course on 'Business English' at Ege University in 2003. She presented a workshop entitled 'Suggestopedia in Writing Lessons' in Foreign Languages Department at Ege University in the same year. She attended the 'Business English' course at Aspect Language Institute in New York, U.S.A, for 3 months in 2005 and received a completion certificate at the end of the course. She joined the English Teaching Staff at Izmir University of Economics in 2005.

Ceyhun Ergin received her BA degree in English Language and Literature from Ankara University in 1980. She started her teaching career at Ozel Turk College in Izmir. After teaching there for three years, she started working at Izmir Fatih College in 1989. During her time there, she worked as an English Teacher and Head of English Department. After working there for 17 years, she joined IEU staff in 2006.

Seher Kosacı received her BA degree in American Culture and Literature in 2003 from Ege University and her MA degree in the same program in 2013. After working as an Instructor of English at Ege University, she started working at Izmir University as a member of the Research and Development Team. Since September 2016, she has been working at Izmir University of Economics.

Filiz Kaya graduated from Middle East Technical University, Foreign Language Education Department in 1999. She has worked at preparatory schools of many different uiversities including Ankara University, Bilkent University, İstanbul Bilgi University and Bahçeşehir University as an instructor. While she was working at Bilkent University, she completed the COTE (Certificate for Overseas Teachers of English) program in 2001. She joined İzmir University of Economics in 2006.

Figen Akgöl graduated from Ankara University English Language and Literature Department in 1990. After working in private language schools and TÖMER between 1990 and 1994, she joined Bilkent University School of English (BUSEL), where she worked in the Curriculum and Testing Unit, and acted as Deputy Head of Teaching Unit besides teaching in the Preparatory Program. She started to work in İzmir University of Economics in September 2004 as an English instructor. Having acted as the Head of Self Access Center in the Preparatory Program for 2.5 years, she resumed her post as a full time English instructor.

She was born in İzmir in 1974. She completed her secondary and high school education at İzmir Özel Fatih High School. She received her BA’s degree in English Language and Literature from the Aegean University in 1996. After her graduation, she worked at İzmir Pamuk Mensucat as a customer representative for 3 years. She started her teaching career at the Aegean University in 2000. She worked there for six years as an instructor of English for the preparatory program. During her work experience, she attended numerous ELT workshops and seminars. Apart from many workshops and seminars, in 20003 she completed a 40-hour training course on “Business English” at the Aegean University. Then in 2005, she received a certificate in teacher development (TDC Part 1) from the British Council. She joined İzmir University of Economics in 2006.

Catherine Baydar was born and educated in England. She has been working in the IUE Prep Program since September 2004. During her time at IUE she has worked in the Materials Development Department and Testing Unit. She has also taken part in committee work during the EQUALS accreditation process and helped organize a Focus on Assessment Issues (FOAI) event. As part of her continuous professional development she has recently successfully completed two certificate programs sponsored by the US Department of State Office for English Language Programs.

Didem Secer completed her high school education at Hamilton High School, Ohio, USA. She received her Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from Boğaziçi University in 1995. Following her graduation, she worked as an account executive in various advertising agencies for three years. From 1998 to 2000 she worked for Osmangazi Anatolian High School as an English Instructor. From 2000 to 2006 she worked for Yeditepe University as an English instructor. In 2006 she started working at İzmir University of Economics as an English instructor.

She graduated from Ege University English Language and Literature Department in 1999.She started her career as an English teacher in İzmir Anadolu Kız High School and worked there for 2 years. Then she worked in Işıkkent Eğitim Kampüsü for a year. After that she worked as a lecturer at Ege University Foreign Languages Department for 4 years. Between the years 1999-2005 she worked with adult groups in Address Education Center and attended several seminars and educational programs. She has been working as a lecturer at Izmir University of Economics since 2005.

Gülçin Güvençli was born in Antalya in 1976. She completed her high school education at Izmir Fatih High School . She, then, received her BA degree as an Honour Student in English Language Teaching from Middle East Technical University in 1998. After working in tourism and finance, she started her teaching career at Izmir Ege High School in September 2000. In her first year there, she got a Certificate in English Language Teaching from the British Council. In addition to teaching English at all levels, she worked as a student project advisor, prepared movie nights and end-of-year shows for students. She also organised the first exchange program with Italy. She joined Izmir University of Economics in September 2003. During her twenty years teaching experience, she attended several seminars on Real Communication in EFL Classrooms, Practical Applications of NLP, using the Internet for ELT, using Pictures in the Classrooms and Classroom Management Skills. She holds many certificates on teaching such as Teaching Grammar, Teaching Vocabulary, Teaching Generation Z Students, Maximising Learner Outcomes, Language Analysis and so on. She holds a Certificate of Achievement for being a committee member of the 1st ELT Conference given by IUE, as well. Between 2018 and 2022, she worked as a member of Curriculum and Material Development Unit. In September 2022, she created @ieuyabancidiller, the official Instagram page of IUE School of Foreign Languages. Since then, she has been managing the account, and also working as a member of the Activity Center for Teachers and Students.

Özlem Camkıran Evans started working as an instructor for Ankara University TÖMER, Turkish and Foreign Languages Research and Application Centre after graduating from the department of English Language and Literature , Ankara University, She continued working there as the Director of Studies until she joined Izmir University of Economics. She worked in this institition as an Academic Coordinator and now works as an instructor. During her teaching career, she attended numerous seminars on a variety of ELT issues and received certificates .She has an MA in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language from Dokuz Eylul University. She taught Turkish to American students as a part of ARIT (American Research Instite) project.

Sabire Pınar Acar received her BA in English Language and Literature from Ege University and MA in ELT from Bahcesehir University. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree at Dokuz Eylul University English Language Education Program. She taught English in different schools in Izmir and Istanbul. She holds the Cambridge Delta qualification. She completed several trainer training courses such as SLTEP 2016 at Sabancı University and Cambridge Training the Trainer Course. She is also a member of the Teacher Development Unit in the School of Foreign Languages.

Mehmet Haldun Kaya graduated from the Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Education, Foreign Language Education Department with a high honour degree. He was granted the degree of Master of Arts by Dokuz Eylül University, the Institute of Educational Sciences, Curriculum and Instruction Department. He also holds the Cambridge Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (DELTA with Distinction). He completed his PhD on ‘Educational Technology’ at Bahçeşehir University, the Institute of Educational Sciences, the Computer and Instructional Technologies Department. He has publications on teacher development and educational technologies in ELT. Dr. M. Haldun Kaya is also a University of Cambridge approved CELTA tutor. Dr. M. Haldun Kaya has been working at the IUE School of Foreign Languages both as an instructor and trainer since 2002.

Gülgün İnan was born in İzmir in 1979. She then received her Bachelor's degree in American Culture and Literature from Ege University in 2001. During B.A., she received a certificate of Effective Business Communication in 1998. After completing her teaching training at Bornova Anatolian High School, she received her Pedagogical Training Certificate. Gülgün received her degree in Master of Arts in American Culture and Literature from Ege University in 2004 after writing her thesis on poetry called, Issues of Race and Gender in the Works of Gwendolyn Brooks. She has worked at Ege University Foreign Languages Department, as an English instructor, for four years. In 2005, she completed the TDC (Teacher Development Course) part1 program at British Council. She joined the staff of Izmir University of Economics in 2005. She worked at the Self Access Centre of the university for two years. She attended IATEFL in Exeter University, England in 2008 with a paper called “A Taste of American Culture in the Classroom”. After the conference, her paper was published in a Polish magazine called, “The Teacher”.

Ebru Çetindağ completed her high school education at Özel Türk High School. She graduated from Gazi University of English Teaching Department in 1993. She worked for Izmir Pamuk Mensucatı T.A.Ş as USA Export Manager. She began her teaching career in Özel Deniz High School, then continued her career in a state high school. She joined IUE in 2002.

Funda Çetin is a graduate of Marmara University and taught at Bilkent University before joining Izmir University of Economics in 2002. She holds COTE (Certificate for Overseas Teachers of English-Cambridge University) and CEELT (Cambridge Examination in English for Language Teachers) certificates. She is an approved Cambridge ESOL Young Learners Oral Examiner, and a CELTA and ICELT tutor for Cambridge ESOL Teaching Awards. She holds the Cambridge ESOL DELTA qualification. She is involved in in-service training and teacher development in her current position.

Özge Coşkun Aysal was born in Manisa in 1979. She graduated from the Department of Translation and Interpretation at Bilkent University in 2002. After she graduated from Bilkent University, she worked for the Canadian Embassy in Ankara for three years as Translator and Interpreter and provided interpretation services at very high level diplomatic meetings. She received her English Language Teaching Certificate from Başkent University in 2005. She joined IUE in 2005. She has participated in various teacher research projects and a great number of events on teacher development. She holds an MA in Translation and Interpretation from Dokuz Eylül University. She received a certificate in Managing in Education in 2014 and Coaching and Team-building in 2018. She is now continuing her doctoral studies at the Department of Educational Administration and Supervision, Dokuz Eylül University. She is now working as the Assistant Director of the School of Foreign Languages. She has participated in different ELT organizations and given presentations on ELT. She is one of the founding members and the Supervisory Board members of the newly founded association in Turkey ‘İngiliz Dili Öğretimi Ve Mesleki Gelişim Derneği’ (TESOL Turkey). She is also an Executive Board Member of TESOL TURKEY LAMSIG. Her particular interest is in lifelong learning and educational management.

Nihal Armağan Ersoy was born in İzmir in 1979. Having received her BA in Translation-Interpreting from Boğaziçi University in 2002, she began her MA in European Studies at Izmir University of Economics in the same year. She completed her MA with a dissertation titled “Changing Patterns in Turkey-EU relations: From Eligibility to Candidacy and Beyond” in 2004. She started her PhD at Dokuz Eylül University, Department of Europan Studies in 2008. She is working on her dissertation now. Her professional interests are the translation of EU texts and Legal English. She has articles and translations published in different years. She joined the IUE staff in 2003.

Nilay Yengil was born in Izmir in 1976. She completed her high school education at Izmir Fatih High School. She then received her B.A. degree in English Language Teaching from Anadolu University in 1999. She completed her Master's Degree in Public Relations and Advertising at Yeditepe University. She started her teaching career at Istanbul Galatasaray High School between 2000-2002. Then she moved to Izmir and worked as an English teacher at Izmir Fatih High School in 2002.She continued teaching at Anadolu Ticaret ve İletişim Meslek Lisesi and she joined the School of Foreign Languages staff at Izmir University of Economics in 2004.

Semra Hasegeli graduated from Ege University-Department of English Language and Literature. She began her career at Turk College and continued teaching at the same school until she decided to work at IEU. She taught at different levels to a variety of age groups. She is interested in preparing different tasks for presenting and revising vocabulary. She is specialized in working with students who are to take YDS.

Finished high school in Eskişehir and graduated from Anadolu University Faculty of Education English Language Teaching Department.After working in different private and state schools,started working in IEU in 2006.

Gulfem Akdogan received her Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from Bogazici University in 1994. She worked for Ankara University TOMER as an English instructor for a year. In 1995, she joined Pinar Food Group where she worked for over seven years in the Import Department. Between 2002 and 2003, she worked for PhilSA as ISO Quality and Environmental Management System Assistant. Having decided to return to her teaching career, she completed a two-semestre course on English Language Teaching and Pedagogical Formation at Ege University where she received her qualification. She then worked for the Foreign Languages Department at Ege University between 2003 and 2006 as an English instructor and consultant to the Testing Committee until she joined Izmir University of Economics. At IUE, she is an instructor of English. Between the years 2008 and 2011, she also served as a member of Curriculum and Materials Development Unit. Since 2019 she has also been a member of the SFL Activity Center team.

Yasemin Yorgancıoğlu has completed her high school education at the Izmir American Collegiate Institute. She then studied Linguistics and Speech and Hearing Sciences at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. After returning to Turkey, she studied English Language and Literature at the Aegean University. Her teaching career has involved teaching at several state high schools and private schools. She took part in the foundation process of the School of Foreign Languages at the İzmir Institute of Technology in 1995. She joined IUE in 2001 and ,once more, took part in the founding faculty of an educational institute of university level. She has been a lecturer and an Academic Coordinator in the Preparatory Program of Izmir University of Economics since September 2001. In addition, she is a qualified UCLES examiner.

Elif Akalp graduated from Boğaziçi University in 2001. Between 2003-2005, she worked as an English Language Instructor at TÖMER. She has been working at Izmir University of Economics since 2005.

Reyhan Köse received her BA degree in English Language Teaching from Ataturk University in 1992. She started her teaching career in Mersin American Cultural Association. Upon proving to be successful in the Turkish Air Force Air Language School Test, she worked as a Civilian English Instructor for the Turkish Air Force until 1998. As a part of in-service teacher development seminars, she attended Defense Language Institute Teacher Training Program-Advanced Level and got her certificate. Between the years of 1998 and 2000 she worked for Ozel Fatih College, where she then was promoted to the Izmir Advanced Education Institute University Study Program in affiliation with Fairleigh Dickinson University. She joined the IUE staff in 2005. She currently works as an Instructor and test writer in the English Language Preparatory Program.

Monique Boelman-Gümüş holds a Bachelors’ in Economic Linguistics (English/French/Dutch, IHBO De Maere), a Master of Science in Psychology from Tilburg University and a Master of Arts in HR-Management from the University of the West of England. In 1991, she started her working career as a psychology lecturer at Tilburg University, after which she went to work as a management consultant. After several years, she took up a position as senior program manager at the Rotterdam School of Management (Erasmus University), where she designed, developed and coached high level management development programs. Her expert knowledge of English and background as an educational psychologist turn out to be an excellent combination while lecturing English at IEU.

Michelle Douglas graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 1985 with a 2:1 B.A.Hons in Modern Languages with Political Science. After graduation she worked in Human Resources for several years before becoming self - employed and running her own retail business. After relocating to Turkey in 2007 she taught English in a private school before joining the Preparatory school at IUE in 2014.

Education: B.A. İngiliz Dili ve Edebiyatı, Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesi, 1999 CV: Deniz Gebitekin studied at Izmir Private Turk College (1988-1995). She graduated from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University English Language and Literature department in 1999. She worked as a tour guide during her education at university. In 1999, she successfully completed the course of English Language Teaching.She completed her stage at Anadolu Dershaneleri and Video English in 2000-2001. In 2001-2002 she worked at TED Aliağa College. She also completed CertELT program organised by The British Council.

Gillian Mazıcı was born in the North East of England. After graduating in Education and Community Studies from the University of Leeds in 1980, she began her working life in an educational foundation in London. Before coming to Turkey, she worked for several years in human resource management. In 1992 she gained an RSA TEFL certificate and began teaching in a private school in Kuşadası. From there she went to Ankara where she worked in METU Foundation Primary school until 1997. After teaching in the preparatory programme at Başkent University for one year, she returned to METU where she worked in the School of Foreign Languages, Preparatory Department until 2002. In 2002 she joined the staff of the School of Foreign Languages at IEU and since then she has been working as an instructor and as an Academic Coordinator since 2004.

Mary Jane Özkurkudis is an instructor and the Head of the Curriculum and Material Development Unit in the prep programme. She graduated from Ege University with first class honours degree in 2000 and holds a BA in English Language and Literature. She completed her MA in Curriculum and Instruction at Ege University in January, 2018. Between 1996-2001 she worked at the British Consulate İzmir as a Consular Assistant and in 2001 with the foundation of Izmir University of Economics, she started working in the School of Foreign Languages as an Instructor. After she had worked there for five years, in 2006 she started working at the Consulate General of Greece in Izmir as a Consular Assistant and a translator. In 2012, she returned to the University and started working in the School of Foreign Languages as an English language instructor. She is the holder of a Pedagogic Teaching Certificate (Ege University), a Certificate in English Language Teaching (British Council), a Certificate in Teaching of English Grammar to Adults (British Council), a Certificate in Teaching Phonology (University of Economics), a Certificate in English for Business (London School of Journalism), a Certificate in Learner Training (University of Economics), a Certificate in the Skills of Teacher Training (British Council), a Certificate in ELT Management (Hox&Erix), a Diploma in Business Law (Stonebridge Associated Colleges) and a Certificate in Curriculum Development (Canadian College of Educators). She has attended several conferences and presented papers. She taught English for Academic Purposes to Freshman classes for two semesters. In the 2020 Spring term she was granted a scholarship by the US Government and successfully completed the Integrating Critical Thinking into the Exploration of Culture in an EFL Setting course. In November 2020, she completed a Teacher Training course sponsored by the US Embassy in Turkey. In 2021, she received her TESOL Advanced Practitioner Certificate. In 2022, she received a Professional Development for Teacher Trainers Certificate from Arizona State University and a Certificate in Teaching and Developing Academic Writing from Iowa State University. She has written seven articles, two of which were published in a journal scanned in the Web of Science (WoS) database.

Max Damiani has a BA in History from Birkbeck College, University of London, and also holds the Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA). He went to primary school in Switzerland, high school in Italy, and university in the United Kingdom. He worked for many years in the hospitality industry in London where he held managerial positions and was also involved in staff training. While working in the industry, he decided to gain experience, first as a teaching assistant, and then as a reading helper, before finally deciding to retrain and work as a full-time teacher. As well as English, he has taught French and Italian in private schools. He has been working at the Izmir University of Economics since September 2017.

She was born in İzmir, in 1973. She completed her high school education at Özel Fatih High School.After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in English Language Teaching Department from Dokuz Eylül University in 1995, she began teaching at Özel İzmir College and then worked at Özel Çakabey College. She continued her teaching career at İzmir Institute of Technology. She worked there for six years and for the last two years she was the Preparatory School Academic Coordinator. In 2006 she moved to İstanbul for a year and worked at Yeditepe University. After coming back to İzmir, she started working at İzmir University of Economics in 2007. She currently works as an Academic Coordinator in the Preparatory Programme.

Retired İntelligence Officer/Satellite İmagery Analyst from the UK military with 31 years service. Studied Art History, the Humanities and Astronomy at undergraduate level. Attained a Masters Degree with Distinction in İntelligence and Global Security Studies with Buckingham University, UK and additionally, a diploma/degree equivalent qualification in Leadership and Management through military service. Aygün Boduroğlu received his BA degree in English Language Teaching from Middle East Technical University in 2001 and joined the Izmir University of Economics School of Foreign Languages Staff the same year. He successfully completed two teacher development courses (Certificate in English Language Teaching and Certificate of Teaching of the Pronunciation of English) organized by the British Council in 2003. He served as a translator and interpreter at the Gendarmerie General Command in 2003-2004. He holds a master’s degree in Educational Sciences. He is a certified PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) trainer. He also works as an IELTS exam instructor for EKOSEM (Izmir University of Economics Continuous Education Center).

Meltem Akçora was born in Izmir, in 1974 and completed her elemantary, second and high school education in Izmir Ozel Fatih High School. She received her BA degree in English Language and Literature from the Aegean University in 1996. She started her teaching career at Izmir Ozel Fatih High School in the same year. During her education and teaching career she has been to England and to the United States to further her knowledge of English. She has worked in Izmir Ozel Fatih High School for 9 years until joining the IUE as an English instructor in 2005.

She was born in İzmir, in 1974. She completed her secondary and high school education at İzmir Ozel Turk Hıgh School. She received her Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from the Aegean University in 1996. After her graduation, she worked at Sundora-K dried fruit company for a year as an assistant manager. At that time, she worked as a part-time English instructor at Kent English Language course. She started teaching at Izmir Ozel Fatih High School in 1997 and remained there until 2006. During her teaching experience, she attended several seminars and workshops about language teaching. She completed “The Trainer Training Course” and “The DIPELT course” organised by the British Council in 2000. She joined Izmir University of Economics in 2006. She completed the ICELT course organised by Cambridge University in 2008.

Pamela McArthur Yalçuk was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. After graduating in Government and Modern History from Heriot-Watt University, she did a postgraduate diploma in Industrial Administration at Napier University. Her first employment was with a large American multi-national company where she was in charge of the financial accounting department. She worked with them for 11 years before becoming the Operations Manager of a private training company affiliated to the local further education college. After obtaining her TESOL certificate, Pamela moved to Izmir, Turkey in 2002 to teach adults and children at a private language school. In 2008 she began working at Izmir University of Economics where she has been a member of both the Testing and Curriculum and Materials Development Teams. She recently developed a new course for Technical English for Engineers and currently coordinates that course. She has qualifications in assessing, coaching and appraising staff.

Friday Longwe comes from a business background and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies. In 2011, Friday, graduated with a Masters of Arts Degree in Business Management specialising in Human Resources Management from the University of Bolton in Manchester - England. In 2013, he gained TEFL Certificate and began his teaching career at a Language School in Manchester. Friday moved to Turkey in 2014 and began teaching at TED KOLEJ in Mersin. From there he worked at Toros University in the School of Foreign Languages, as an English instructor in the Preparatory Department until 2017. He also holds (CELTA) awarded by Cambridge University. In 2017, he joined the staff at Izmir University of Economics, working as an instructor in the School of Foreign Languages.

Deniz Pektas graduated from Dokuz Eylül University ,Department of English Language Teaching in 2004.She worked as a part time instructor at Izmir Institute of Technologhy between 2004 and 2005.She participated in Teacher Development Courses (1and 2) organized by British Council .She joined Izmir University of Economics in 2005.

Nicholas Robson was born in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1966. He graduated from Staffordshire University in 1989 receiving his BA degree in Geography. Between 1990- 1994 he worked in the city of London. He spent the following year traveling in India and Pakistan, before returning to London to work for Merrill Lynch. He arrived in Turkey in the spring of 2000 where he began teaching at language schools in Izmir. He completed a teaching certificate in 2002 from the British Council in Izmir and joined IEU in the same year.

Tim Evans graduated from the University of Southampton with a BA in English Literature in 1987. After working in sales and training for a number of years, Tim started teaching English in 1996. He has attended numerous courses and seminars and presented workshops on teaching and learning. He obtained a CELTA from Windsor School of Language in 1999. Tim has worked as an Academic Committee Member and D.O.S. at a number of institutions and started working at Economy University in 2006, where he remains employed as an instructor. He has attended many professional development courses and has certificates for such.

Following her graduation from Hacettepe University ELT department in 1993, she started to work at Ankara University TÖMER Language School. Between 1996-2000 she worked at Bilkent University MSSF Prep School, and 2000-2003 at Başkent University ELSBU Prep School as an Instructor of English. She has been working at IUE SFL Prep School as an Instructor of English since 2003.

Kamer Sertkan Öztin has been working as an English Language instructor in the Preparatory Program at the IUE School of Foreign Languages since 2003. She graduated from Bilkent University, Faculty of Humanities and Letters, Department of American Culture and Literature in 2003. In the same year, she also obtained her English Teaching Certificate from Hacettepe University. In 2007, she received her Master’s Degree in Translation and Interpreting from Dokuz Eylül University. She also holds a doctoral degree in Translation Studies, which she received from the same university in 2023.

Z. Selen Saydam Erdinç holds a BA in American Culture and Literature from Ankara University and an MA in American Studies from Heidelberg Ruprecht Karls University. She received a CELT certificate from the Swan Training Institute, Ireland in 2011. She worked as an instructor at TOBB ETÜ Foreign Languages Department from 2011 to 2022 where she worked as a member of the Measurement and Evaluation Unit from 2012 to 2022. She has been working as an instructor at the Preparatory Program at Izmir University of Economics since August, 2022. She has attended several certificate programs, workshops and seminars on language assessment. She co-authored a number of test books for YÖKDİL and YDT. In addition, she provided a one-year in-house testing training series as part of a professional development project with the other members of the unit. Her professional interests include item development and assessment literacy.

Mehmet Başak CIFTCIOGLU was born in Gülnar on September 11, 1970. He graduated from Galatasaray High School and Yıldız Technical University, Department of French Translation and Interpretation. He worked as a Vice Principal at Galatasaray High School between the years 1997-2002. He has been working as French Instructor and French Language Program Academic Coordinator at IUE since 2002. He attended various trainings in France with French Government scholarship during his tenure: Besançon CLA Teacher Development Training in 2004; Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIP) Business French in 2007; Nantes BELC internship DELF-DALF Exams Scorer Coaching Training in 2010, Telc Exams Scorer Training in 2011. He is currently one of the founding members of Izmir Association of Teachers of French, established in 2003, and Chairman of the Association between 2011 to 2016.

Graduated from Galatasaray Highschool in 1997 and Istanbul University Faculty of Arts French Language and Literatute Department in 2002. He worked as a French instructor in Izmir and Istanbul. He completed a master degree in 9 Eylül University Institute of Education Sciences Teaching Turkish As A Foreign Language Department and PhD degree in University of Montreal, Linguistics and Translation Department. Still works at Izmir University of Economics and gives also "French Gastronomy" courses as optional.

Sedef Ahuoğlu, upon completing Saint-Joseph French Secondary and High School, she graduated from 9 Eylül University, Department of French Teaching. First, she started working at Izmir Pamuk Mensucat, Export Department. Then she worked at Saint-Joseph French High School as a French teacher. She started to work at IUE in September, 2003 after working as a French language coordinator in many private tutoring schools and working as a tour guide in Paris. She attended many trainings in France: Tours University Language and Literature Training in 1993, Alliance Française Teacher Development Training in 2005, Vichy Cavilam Language Certificate Training in 2006 , Caen BELC internship DELF-DALF Exams Scorer Coaching Training in 2007, Egesus Preparation and Presentation of projects in the European Union Training in 2008, TELC Exams Scorer Coaching Training in 2011 She took part in writing and staging of 3 theatre plays within the University. She also, worked staging these theatres in different festivals and universities. She presented a paper and a workshop on Creative Drama at Gazi University. In 2011, she staging a photography exhibition” du pinceau au declencheur” and a workshop “Lost in the France” in 2012. She gives two selective courses: French knowledge of effective, advanced knowledge of French.

Akkadin Cankaya Sevim was born in 1986 in Germany. She completing her primary and high school education in Germany. In 2008 she moved to Izmir and got her B.A. degree in German Teaching at Dokuz Eylül University in 2012. After her degree she returned to Germany and worked in the Language schools Deutsch Akademie and BerlinerID as a German Teacher for two years. She has worked as a German Teacher in Goethe Institute Izmir.

Hülya Eser was born on 12 February 1973 in Germany. She completed her primary, secondary and high school education in Germany. She returned to Turkey in 1992. She graduated from Atatürk University the department of German Language and Literature education with high degree. She worked as a translator in İzmir. She joined the Pedagogic certificate program of Dokuz Eylül University in 1999. She has taught in various schools until 2003 and she also gave private lessons. She has been in Paderborn University in 2003 and then went on teaching. She has been working at Izmir Economy University as a German instructor since February 2005. 2010 she has participated for one year at the Goethe Institute in "methodology and didactics of foreign language teaching". 2011 she successfully participated at the examiner qualification telc German A2, B1 and B2 and acquired the examiner license. The license entitles her to evaluate the expression of the written tests and oral examinations.

He was born in Denizli. At 4 he went with his family to Germany, where he completed primary, secondary and high school. In 1978 he settled back to Turkey. He studied German Language and Literature at Ege University. During his education he took Latin lessons for two semesters. He worked as a translator for the presidency of general staff. He was a certified translator for about 12 years. He worked as a lecturer for 21 years at Dokuz Eylül, Ege and Ankara University. He was Head of Department of Foreign Languages at Tömer in Ankara University. He received the certificate of teaching Turkish as a foreign language from Ankara University. He is a licensed German tourist guide working for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Since 1984, he has worked in his spare time as a licensed tourist guide. He has received a certificate for folk dance from Balçova Public Education Center. He is also a swimming instructor and a life guard. (DLRG Grundschein) 2011 he successfully acquired the examiner license for TELC German A2, B1 and B2. The license entitles him to evaluate the expression of the written tests and oral examinations. Since January 2018, he has been organising cultural and educational trips to Berlin and Munich.

Elif Elvan Boduroğlu was born in 1976 in Germany. Having graduated from high school in Germany, she returned to Turkey in 1994 and studied at Bornova Anatolian High School. She got her B.A. degree in German Teaching at Dokuz Eylül University in 2000. Prior to her graduation, she got a Diploma in German Language in 1997, obtained the first place in a translation contest called “Young Translators” held by Ankara University in 1997 and got a TÖMER Diploma in English in 1999. She fulfilled her practice teaching at Fatih College in 1999 and Yunus Emre Anatolian High School in 2000. She worked at Beyaz Balon Kindergarten until 2002, and she has been a German instructor at IUE School of Foreign Languages since then. She was the German Language Academic Coordinator at IUE between September 2015 and July 2020. 2010 she received the certificate for the completed one-year-long distance learning at the Goethe Institute in "Methodology and Didactics Of Foreign Language Teaching". 2011 she successfully participated at the examiner qualification TELC German A2, B1 and B2 and acquired the examiner license. The license entitles her to evaluate the expression of the written tests and oral examinations. 2012-2013 EAQUALS Commitee membership Between 2013 and 2020 she was an active member of the Literature Club for Contemporary German Literature at the Goethe Institute in Izmir.

Cihangir Tala was born in Germany in 1978. He completed his high school education in Bornova Anatolian High School. After receiving his BA degree in German Language Teaching department from 9 Eylül University, he worked at Bornova Anatolian High School in 2004. In 2006, he joined the staff of Foreign Languages Department as a German instructor. 2011 he successfully participated at the examiner qualification TELC German A2, B1 and B2 and acquired the examiner license. The license entitles his to evaluate the expression of the written tests and oral examinations. Within the same year he has joined to "Leipzig and Münih" semınars. In 2015, he has being successful by joining in the name of "Foreign language lessons in digital media". He has been the German Language Academic Coordinator at IEU since July 2020.

Tülay Inceisa was born in 1961 in Konya, Turkey She has lived for 16 years in Stuttgart, Germany. After completing her high school education at Karşıyaka Kız Lisesi She got her BA of German Teacher from the 9 Eylül University, İzmir. After teaching German at Fatih Private School, and Goethe Institute, she worked for a while at the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany., İzmir. She has been working as German Instructor at IEU/ School of Foreign Languages since 2003. 2011 she successfully participated at the examiner qualification TELC German A2, B1 and B2 and acquired the examiner license. The license entitles her to evaluate the expression of the written tests and oral examinations. 2011 she successfully participated at the examiner qualification TELC German C1 acquired the examiner license. The license entitles her to evaluate the expression of oral examinations.

Nilay Altınkurt Gezgin was born in 1977 in Ingolstadt, Germany. After completing her primary and high school education in Germany, she moved to Izmir, Turkey in 1994, where she additionally went to Izmir Kız Lisesi. She studied German Language and Literature at Ege University and graduated in 2001. In August 2001, she started her internship as a German teacher at DAS Academy and worked there until 2002. From 2002-2006 she continued her career at Ankara University TÖMER Language School as a German teacher and in 2005/2006 also as the Head of Foreign Languages Department. rnSince September 2006 she has been working as a German Instructor at our University.rn

Zeliha Kabadayı was graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Language, History and Geography Department of Italian Language and literature. After her university education, she attended language and culture courses in Siena University for Foreigners as a scholarship student. In 2005, she worked as a teacher of Italian in Ankara University TÖMER Language Teaching Center. In September 2006, she started working as an instructor of Italian in İzmir University of Economics. She participated in the workshops which took place in Ankara organized by Università per Stranieri di Perugia. In July 2009, she attended teacher-training courses in Perugia University for Foreigners as a scholarship student. She received a certificate which enables testing Italian Language at A1 A2 and B1 levels in the year 2011.

Nilcan Yavuz was graduated from Ankara University Department of İtalian Language and Literature in 2000. She worked at various international companies in İzmir. İn 2003 she received Certificate at teaching as a second foreign language in Siena University for Foreigners. İn 1996 she completed the foreign language course at University of Pisa. İn 2002, she received Professional Licenced Tour Guide Certificate from Ministry of Tourism. İn 2011 she completed the training and received the certificate of TELC examinator. From 2002 she works as a teacher of İtalian at İzmir 'Carlo Goldoni' İtalian Cultural Association. She has been working at İzmir University of Economics since 2004. She currently works as an İnstructor of İtalian language in Second Foreign Languages Department.

Buket Kasalı completed her secondary and high school education at İzmir Özel Türk Lisesi. She graduated from Ankara University, Italian Language and Literature Department. She worked at private schools and TÖMER during her teaching career. She started working at İzmir Italian Culture Centre in 1995. In 2009 she successfully acquired the examiner license CILS . In 2011 she became examiner of the University of Perugia for foreigners, to evaluate oral examinations of CELI approved by ALTE, The Council of Europe. She has been administering and supervising of the international certificate exam in italian ,CELI ,University of Perugia for foreigners and TELC. She has been working for Özel İzmir Martı Schools as an Academic Consultant of the Foreign Languages Department. She has been working at Izmir University of Economics since 2002. She currently works as an Italian Academic Coordinator in Second Foreign Languages Department.

Aysim Yükseler, graduated from Ankara University , Italian Language and Literature Department in 2001. In 1998 she went to Michelangelo Language School in Florence. In 2000 she went to Rome "ITCLUB Language School" with the scholarship of the Italian Cultural Center of Ankara. Between 2001-2002 she worked as an Italian teacher at the Italian Friendship Association of Ankara. Between 2002-2004 she worked as an Italian teacher at Ankara University, TÖMER. Between 2004-2005 she went to Italy, Florence and she attended various courses and she got the certificate of CILS QUATTRO C-2 of Siena University. In 2005 she started to work as a part-time Italian instructor in the University of Economics. Between 2006-2008 she attended as an observer (guest) "Italian Conversation Course" and "Business Italian Course" at the Italian Cultural Center of Izmir. In 2006 she started to work as a full-time Italian instructor in the University of Economics. Between 2009-2010 she attended French Language course at the French Cultural Center of Izmir. In 2011 she started doing MA in Media and Communication Studies in the University of Economics.

Necan Saygaç was graduated from Ankara University Department of Italian Language and Literature in 2000. From 2000 to 2006, she worked as a teacher of Italian at A.Ü.Tömer, language course centre. In 2011 she successfully participated and aquired the examiner qualification for TELC Italian A2, B1 and B2. She has been working at Izmir University of Economics since 2006. She currently works as an Instructor of Italian language in Second Foreign Languages Department.

Aliona Eugeniu Lungu was born in former USSR. Her father is from the USA, as for her mother - from Ukrania. She has studied in the university, Modern Languages Department, English and French. Then she studied Law and Economy. Her work experience started in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Her responsibilities were co-ordinating all the activities involved for foreign investors, meeting co-ordination, organization of business seminars, recruitment advising, translation as well as assisting president in international contacts. During this time she has been to Germany for about 6 months where she had the opportunity to complete practical training within the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Wurzburg and the SUDZUCKER AG Mannheim, in order to acquaint herself with the business methods in Germany. The "SUDZUCKER" AG is the biggest European sugar producing company with the factories all over Europe and in some Eastern countries. Working there in the main administration office, she passed through the following departments: Central division for International Contacts, Central division for Purchasing, Central division for Sale, Sugar/ beets branch Board of Directors, Factory management. Then about 4 months she took part in the United States International Agency Program - Community Connection. After that she has worked in the Constitutional Court about two years and had diplomatic passport during this time. Her responsibility incorporated all the activities concerning the international relations of the Constitutional Court, including the translation of legal documents for the council of Europe. She was also the member of the interpreters association for the Citizen Network for Foreign Affairs, USA. She came to Turkey to teach English language. For two years she worked in Çakabey College, Izmir, then being transferred to the University of Economics. She speaks following languages: English, French, Russian, Romanian, Ukranian, Turkish. In 2011 The International Commission for the Recognition and Equivalence of Studies, Diplomas and Academic Degrees confirmed A. Eugeniu’s degree as MA degree in Arts in Education.

Anastasiya Özkan was born and lived in city of Perm (Russia). After she graduated the high school specialized in foreign languages, she entered The State Pedagogical University of Perm in 1998, the faculty of foreign languages (French and English) and graduated in 2003. She started to work as a teacher of French and English in 2003 in secondary school of Perm. She came to Turkey for permanent living in 2008. She worked at courses of foreign languages (Russian and English) during several months. She joined Izmir University of Economics in September 2009.

Mehmet Şenbağcı graduated from Ankara University with a degree in Spanish language and literature and has been working at the University since September 2006.

Aimara Rodríguez De Cesero studied Modern Languages at the University of Florence. She has a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in Literary Translation. She has also successfully completed a Master degree in Foreign Language Teaching. Aimara has taught Spanish and Italian as a foreign language in Spain, Italy, Turkey and India to learners at different levels. Since February 2017 she has been working at the Spanish Department of Izmir University of Economics. Furthermore, she is also a qualified DELE examiner for the levels A1, A2, B1 and B2.

Antonio Ramirez graduated from Universidad Rafael Urdaneta in Maracaibo, Venezuela and got a degree in Computer Engineering. He got a masters degree in Computer Information Systems from Southern New Hampshire University in the United States. It was here when he started pursuing teaching as a career opportunity by teaching Spanish to coworkers. His responsibilities as an analyst/trainer in a software company helped him develop his teaching skills. In 2000 he moved to Istanbul, Turkey where he began teaching Spanish and English to university students and since then he has held several teaching positions. He enrolled in a Teacher Formation Program and received a certificate from Instituto Cervantes in Istanbul. He worked as a Spanish instructor in foreign language schools such as Dilmer and Bati Dilleri in Istanbul. He worked as an English instructor providing English consultancy services to companies such as Carrefour, FOX TV, AstraZeneca, MultiTurk Development, and Turkiye Gazetesi. In 2010 he started working at Izmir University of Economics as a Spanish Instructor.

Juan Morcote was born in Bogotá, Colombia. He graduated from Universidad Externado de Colombia in 2012 in the area of economic sciences in Business Administration. His first experience as a languages instructor started in 2012 and in 2014 he got his certificate in Spanish Teaching, ELE (Español como lengua extranjera), from Salamanca Spain. He came to Turkey 2014 and after working with other institutions, at the autumn of 2014 he started working at Izmir University of Economics as a Spanish instructor.

Elma Corujo González graduated from University of Cantabria in 2001 in Santander, (Spain) and got a degree in Management and Business Administration. She got a diploma in International Business from University of Ulster (Ireland). She has two Master´s Degrees, Master in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language and Master in Marketing Management, from University of Cantabria and University CIESE-Comillas, respectively. Later, She also obtained two Post-Graduates, one in Management and Negotiation of Tourist Destinations and other in Entrepreneurship both from University of Cantabria. She is accredited examiner of DELE Examinations from Instituto Cervantes (A1-B2). After working several years in Italy, in the field of Business Consultancy, she started to teach Spanish for Specific Purposes (Spanish for Business).Her interest in Specialized Languages has developed her reason to do research. She is currently doing her PhD in Linguistic, Literature, and Theater at University of Alcalá de Henares (Madrid). She started working at Izmir University of Economics as Spanish Instructor in 2016.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Bahar Gün received her BA in ELT from the Education Faculty, Anadolu University in 1989; her MA from the MA TEFL Program at Bilkent University in 1991, and her PhD in ELT from Anadolu University in 1998. She is in charge of in-service teacher training and teacher development programs at SFL. Her research interests include EFL teacher education in general, and teacher cognition and reflective teaching and learning in particular.

Working at Izmir University of Economics, School of Foreign Languages since 2008, Nesrin Oruç Ertürk has earned her PhD degree from Anadolu University in 2007, assigned as an Assoc. Prof. Dr. in 2014 and appointed as Prof. Dr. in 2019. She has worked as the Undergraduate English Program Coordinator between 2011 and 2015. In 2003, she got a one-year Fulbright Scholarship to work as a Foreign Language Teaching Assistant at the State University of New York (SUNY), at Binghamton, New York, USA. Between 2005 and 2008 she worked at Dokuz Eylül University, Buca Faculty of Education, English Language Teaching Department. Since 2015, she has been assigned as the director of the EKOSEM (İzmir University of Economics, Continuing Education Center) and is a member of the Executive Board of TUSEM (Türkiye Sürekli Eğitim Merkezleri Konseyi). Teaching as an adjunct Professor for University of Maryland since 2008, Prof. Oruç Ertürk has taught many hybrid and live stream classes. She has certificates from University of Maryland University College on WebTycho Online Teaching (2009), TESOL Online Professional Development Program “The Basics of Online Instruction” and “Advance Course of Online Teaching” (2001). She is among the Academic delegate of Turkish Educational Sciences Journal (2008), Member of Editorial Board of Journal of International Social Research (2010), and Member of Board of Reviewers of Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language Journal (TESL-EJ) since 2011. She has articles published in both national and international journals and has attended numerous conferences.

She received her BA degree in ELT from Anadolu Üniversity in 1991. In 1995, she completed her MA at Bilkent University. She received her PhD in ELT from Anadolu University in 1999. Since 2003, she has been working at İzmir University of Economics, School of Foreign Languages.

Nil Akpınar-Wilsing graduated from Middle East Technical University, the Department of English Language Teaching in 1995. Between 1995 and 2000, she worked as an English Language Instructor at Bilkent University. She attended Language, Vocabulary, and Curriculum and Testing training programs and she holds COTE (Certificate for Overseas Teachers of English-Cambridge University) and CEELT (Cambridge Examination in English for Language Teachers) certificates. She also carried out some special duties like the Specialist Teacher (responsible for curriculum and testing issues) and the Deputy Head of a Teaching Unit in this institution. Between 2000 and 2003, she did her MA on Curriculum and Instruction at METU in the Department of Educational Sciences and worked as a research assistant. In the same institution, she received the Multiple Intelligences Institute for Curriculum Design and Lesson Plan Development certificate. She has been working at Izmir University of Economics since 2003. She is currently a senior instructor and Material Writer in the Freshman English Language program.

Anıl Uçak graduated from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Letters, the Department of English Language and Literature in 1998. She received her teaching certificate authorized by Ministry of National Education from Ege University. She has been working at Izmir University of Economics, School of Foreign Languages since 2005.

Çiğdem Stevens received her high school education at Ozel Turk College in Izmir, Turkey. She then went on to the English Department at 9th September University to receive her Bachelor's degree in education.She began her teaching career at the school from which she graduated, Ozel Turk College, where she was a teacher of English from 1982 to 1984. She was then hired by the United States Army to instruct newly arrived American military personnel in Basic Turkish.After employment with the United States Army, she accompanied her husband to the United States until she returned to Turkey in 1989. She then became a teacher of English at Ozel Fatih College in Izmir. During her period as a teacher there, she enrolled as a student at the University of Maryland where she is pursuing yet a second degree, this time in Business Management.When the Izmir Advanced Education Institute opened up university study in affiliation with Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1996, she was chosen to be on the founding faculty. She remained there until 2001 when she joined our fine institution to again be part of the founding faculty of an educational institute of university level. She has taken workshops and seminars to keep her skills current and up to date. She got a certificate that allows her to teach Turkish as a second language, increasing her value to the university. She currently teaches Freshman English and Turkish as a second language to foreign students.

Donald Staub is an Assistant Professor and the Director of the School of Foreign Languages at Izmir University of Economics in Izmir, Turkey. He also served for four years as the coordinator of the Quality Assurance Unit within the School of Foreign Languages at Isik University (Istanbul), where he served as the chair for the SFL’s two accreditation applications. Donald has a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University (EMU), and an MA (TESOL) and BA (Literature) from Michigan State University. Dr. Staub is a trained CEA reviewer and has significant accreditation experience in working with institutions that have been accredited by NCA, SACS, and CAEP. His primary research interests lie in EFL quality assurance, student retention, and delivery of English medium instruction, and he has recent book chapters on quality assurance in EFL programs as well as quality assurance in ESP programs. He is currently editing a book (Springer, 2019) that explores quality assurance and accreditation in foreign language programs.

Asst. Prof. Esin Caglayan graduated from Bogazici University, Faculty of Education, Department of English Language Teaching. After graduation she worked in several schools as an English Language teacher and head of department. She joined Izmir University of Economics, School of Foreign Languages in 2002. She worked as a Level Coordinator between 2003 and 2009, as Head of Testing Unit between 2009 and 2014 and as the Head of Preparatory Programs between 2015-2020. She obtained her Teacher Trainer Certificate from British Council in 2006. She received her MA degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Dokuz Eylul University in 2008 and her Ph.D. degree in the same program in 2014. Asst. Prof. Esin Caglayan has been working at Izmir University of Economics as Director of Teaching and Learning Center Research and Application Center (EKOEĞİTİM-TLC) since 2015. Her academic interests are assessment and evaluation, educational technologies, instructional design, learning analytics and organizational behavior.

Arzu Yabacı, graduated from Konya Selçuk University,Department of English Langugage Teaching. After completing her trainee year working both in Safranbolu Lisesi and Safranbolu Kız Meslek Lisesi between 1992-1994, she went to England to attend Wimbledon School of English and received the Cambridge University FCE Certificate. In the1995-1996 academic year, she worked as the Head of English Department and as an English Teacher in Aydın Özel Başak Lisesi. Between 1996-1999 she worked at İzmir Özel Çamlaraltı College and İzmir Özel Ege Lisesi. During this period, she also taught at 9 Eylül University-Finance Management evening courses. In 1997, she attended Hammersmith&West London College, Faculty of English Studies-A course for Overseas Teachers of English and she obtained a certificate. In 2000, she obtained her Teacher Training Certificate and DipELT at the British Council. In 2002, she went to Canada-Vancouver and attended a TOEFL course on academic writing at Worldwide Langugage Institute and received a certificate. On her return, she started working at Izmir University of Economics and since 2006 she has been teaching Academic Skills in English courses in the Freshman Programme.

Assc. Prof. Dr. Evrim Üstünlüoğlu received her BA in ELT from the Education Faculty, Dokuz Eylül University in 1983; her MA from the MA TEFL Program at Bilkent University in 1992, and her PhD in Educational Sciences from Marmara University in 1998. She was promoted as an associate professor in the field of educational sciences, program development. She worked as a Director of School of Foreign Languages (SFL) between the years 0f 2004-2018. Currently, she has been conducting her research, and teaching as a faculty member. Her research interests include methodology, program development and EFL teacher education in general.

After having graduated from Ege University English Language and Literature, Menekse Gokcen has had a chance to complete her education in post-graduate studies of Dokuz Eylul University American Culture and Literature. She has worked at Ege University School of Foreign Languages and Dokuz Eylul University English Language Education Department. She has been working at Izmir University of Economics since 2018 and she is currently studying for her Ph.D. degree in English Language and Literature at Ege University.

TEFL / TESL Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma. Lyndon Merrett’s main academic education is in the area of Electronics & Micro-Computer Systems Design, and was employed from 1977 until mid 2001 in various Design Engineering and Management roles within the Military and Commercial Electronics sectors. Prior to arriving in Turkey, he obtained the TEFL / TESL Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma enabling him to teach English as a Foreign / Second Language. His first few years in Turkey were spent teaching the English Language to students at Preparatory and Undergraduate levels within the English Language and Literature Department of Istanbul Kültür University. While there, he also taught instructors studying for their Masters’ Degree within the same department. He commenced employment at Izmir University of Economics in September 2004 initially employed as an English Language Preparatory Instructor, for the last several years he has been teaching Freshman Academic Skills, has been responsible for Blackboard System activities related to the Freshman program and, throughout the pandemic (2020-2022) was ENG101 and ENG102 Course Coordinator.

Anita Afacan graduated from the University of Sussex with an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science. After completing a CELTA course, she taught general and technical English at Anadolu and Osmangazi Universities in Eskişehir. She then went into the English preparatory school at Anadolu University where she taught for a further four years. She obtained an MA TEFL degree from the University of Reading, England in 2003. During her time there, she also taught academic English to post graduate level overseas students. She joined Izmir Economy University in 2003. She is a senior lecturer, material writer and teacher trainer in the undergraduate English department.

Kelci is the current course coordinator for ENG 410. She started her career as an English teacher in Peru in 2015, before moving to Turkey and working at a university. She has taught all age groups and levels, and moved to a private language institution in 2018. She became a teacher trainer in 2020 and has worked on almost 15 CELTA courses, with candidates and students from around the world. She became certified as an online English teacher and trainer in early 2020. She completed all three modules of her Delta, and is interested in material development, language education for teachers, and learner autonomy.

Secil UGUR studied English Language Teaching at Middle East Technical University between 1993 and 1998. From 1998 to 2002, she worked as an English Language Instructor at the School of Foreign Languages at Baskent University. She attended Language, Vocabulary, and Methodology training programs there. Meanwhile, she received her MBA degree from Baskent University in 2001. Then, she started working as an English Instructor at Izmir University of Economics in 2003. Until 2009, she taught English at the Preparatory School. In 2009, she joined the Freshman Program where she taught Academic Skills in English until June, 2015. From 2012 to 2015 she taught Advanced English for TOEFL Exam Preparation. From 2006 to 2010, she worked at the Vocational School where she taught various courses such as Introduction to Business, Principles of Marketing, Marketing Management, Managing People and Organizations, Fundamentals of E-commerce, Applications in Foreign Trade and Pricing. She also designed courses like "English for International Trade" and "Business Talk" with her partners and taught them at the Izmir Chamber of Commerce between 2006 and 2013. She worked as the Head of Graduate English Preparatory Program at the School of Foreign Languages from 2015 to 2019. as of 2019 - 2020 Academic Year, she joined the Freshman Program of School of Foreign Languages to reach Academic English.

Simon Mumford graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 1983. He was awarded the RSA Certificate in TEFL in 1985. He has taught at various English Language courses and a private secondary school in Izmir, Turkey. He taught on the Ege University English preparatory course from 1997 to 2003. In 2004, he graduated from the Aston University (UK) Msc.TESOL programme. He has taught at Izmir University of Economics since 2003. He teaches academic skills courses ENG 101 and 102. He is also Writing Centre advisor, which involves editing the papers of faculty staff. He is currently doing a PhD in ELT at Bahçeşehir University, and is writing a thesis on the teaching of academic writing. He has published academic articles on teacher education, language testing and academic English.

Bahar Kızıltunalı received her Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from the Aegean University in 1982. She then started her teaching career at Ozel Fatih College, where she remained until 1996.During that time, she also furthered her own education with numerous courses resulting in an impressive list of certificates from Cambridge University, Sidmouth International School, the British Council, and the University of California. In 1996, she was chosen to be part of the founding faculty and also head of the English Department of the Izmir Advanced Education Institute University Study Programme in affiliation with Fairleigh Dickinson University. In 2000, she became the head of English and consultant for the Atolye Consultancy and Organization. She remained there until 2001, when she joined Izmir University of Economics, again as a part of the founding faculty. Bahar worked as Head of the Preparatory School for 13 years.She was responsible for the overall management of the school’s academic program. Since joining the university, she has continued to take part in many conferences and course in order to develop her experience and knowledge in the field of ELT. She has also undertaken training in Total Quality Management and Quality Inspection and qualified Quality Inspector for City and Guilds. Bahar has traveled extensively and has spent a lot of time in both the UK and the USA. She has been invited to take part in conferences and focus groups at many prestigious universities, including Oxford and Cambridge in the UK and the University of California in the USA. She was also invited by British Council Brazil to give seminars and trainings on testing and management in four different cities, 6 different institutes . She has worked closely with leading experts in the field of ELT and has a wide range of contacts within the world of ELT both in Turkey and abroad. One of her particular areas of expertise is testing.She has developed testing programmes for different institutions and she has also worked closely with many respected experts in this field. She holds a Diploma in ELT Management.
