CERTIFICATE OF KNOWLEDGE OF ITALIAN LANGUAGE
 (C.E.L.I. The University for Foreigners Perugia)

CELI is a certificate officially recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education and Research and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is qualification of the Italian language destined for educated adults. It certifies ability and skills to use the language, and can be used for work and education purposes. Foreign students who want to get entrance into any Italian university or higher education institution need to get CELI 3 B2 level to prove their Italian language knowledge.

 

CELI exams are held by The University for Foreigners Perugia and come in six qualification levels.

CELI IMPATTO A1

CELI 1 = A2

CELI 2 = B1

CELI 3 = B2

CELI 4 = C1

CELI 5 = C2

 

CELI 4 and CELI 5 exams, which have internationally validity and credibility, validate Italian language grammar on the same level with Italian students.

 

Internationally recognized CELI certificates are also recognized by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). Its equivalency is also accepted for KPDS (Public Personnel Language Exam), UDS (Interuniversity Foreign Language Exam), and YDS (Foreign Language Placement Exam) officially.

CELI a (adoloscenti)

There are three CELI a (CELI for Adolescents) exam levels which can be taken by students from 13 to 17 years of age. It is administered once a year in May.

CELI 1 a - A2

CELI 2 a - B1

CELI 3 a - B2

CELI (immigrati)

The CELI immigrants (certificates for people who have immigrated to Italy) and the relative language certificates are specifically aimed at foreigners who have immigrated to Italy. There is no age limit or specific level of education. Candidates take the exam when they feel they are ready. It is administered 4 times a year in May, July, September, and November in three stages.

 

CELI IMPATTO A1

CELI 1 = A2 (elementary)

CELI 2 = B1 (intermediate)


Exam fee is 50 Euros.

Applications are taken 2 months prior to the exam dates. Interested parties need to apply at SFL Italian language Department.

DILS-PG (Certification of Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language)

DILS-PG is a two level certification exam, offered by The University for Foreigners of Perugia, held once a year (usually in January or February) in the examination centers all over the main countries of the world.

Requirements for Level I

For Italian nationals:

1. Degree (at least three years) in: “Italian Language and Culture”, “Italian Language Teaching to Foreigners”, and “Providing Integration by Teaching Italian Language and Culture to Immigrants”,  

2-a) Degree (minimum of three years in any subject) and Master’s Degree in ‘Teaching Italian to Foreigners in Italy ( L2)’ or ‘ Teaching Italian to Foreigners (LS)’;

2-b) Degree (minimum of three years) and with 200 hours of teaching experience;

3. High School with at least 700 hours of teaching experience.

For foreign nationals:

Same requirements are valid for foreign nationals.

Degree (minimum of three years in any subject) and at least a level B2 certificate.   

Certificates issued by University for Foreigners of Perugia (Celi 3 B2), University of Siena (Cils Due B2), University of Rome Tre (Int.it), Dante Alighieri School (PLIDA B2) are accepted.

 

Requirements for Level II

For Italian nationals:

1. Degree (at least three years) in: “Italian Language and Culture”, “Italian Language Teaching to Foreigners”, and “Providing Integration by Teaching Italian Language and Culture to Immigrants”, 

Diplomas will be assessed by the DILS-PG Science Committee.

2- a) Degree (minimum of three years in any subject);

b) At least 400 hours of teaching Italian (L2) or teaching another foreign language in recent years, Master’s Degree in ‘Teaching Italian to Foreigners in Italy ( L2), or specialty diploma in ‘ Teaching Italian to Foreigners (LS)’; 

3-a) High School diploma;

b) At least 1500 hours of teaching experience (L2) or another foreign language in recent years.

For foreign nationals:

Same requirements are valid for foreign nationals.

Degree (minimum of three years in any subject) and at least a level C1 certificate.  

 

Exam fee is 140 Euros.

Applications are taken 2 months prior to the exam dates. Interested parties need to apply at SFL Italian language Department.
