IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING PIE EXAM AND SCORES
In the PIE exam, candidates must score at least 40% or above in each section (writing, listening and reading, grammar, and speaking). Additionally, candidates must achieve a total score of at least 65.00 for associate and undergraduate programs to be considered successful in the Proficiency in English exam.
Pre-Faculty Program
Students who start the academic year at level (C) and successfully complete Levels (C) and (D) are eligible to take the PIE Exam (English Proficiency Exam) administered at the end of the first semester. Students who succeed in the PIE Exam or are exempt from the PIE Exam can either continue their education in their departments in the Spring Semester or sign up for the Pre-Faculty Program.
The PFC program is a 15-hour course conducted over 8 weeks that introduces academic English, including citation, research, presentation skills, and interpreting data/research. This program will start on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. Course details, including class lists and course schedules, will be announced on our SFL website on Monday, February 09, 2026. You can sign up for the Pre-Faculty program via this link: https://forms.gle/57j4zJ668naDwv6B8. The deadline to sign up is January 29, 2026, 16.00.
Students who register for the Pre-Faculty Program within Module 3 and/or Module 4 will remain enrolled as English Preparatory Program students until the end of the Spring Term. Upon completion of the Spring Term, their English Proficiency Exam (PIE) scores will be officially recorded on their transcripts, and their student status will be updated accordingly.
PIE Success Program
Students who take the PIE Exam at the end of the first semester but are unsuccessful can, if they wish, join the PIE Success Program. This program is a 15-hour course conducted over 8 weeks and is designed to help students strengthen their academic English skills and improve their performance in the PIE Exam. After completing this program, these students will take the PIE Exam administered at the end of the 3rd or 4th Module.
Participation in the PIE Success Program is optional and is not a prerequisite for taking the PIE Exam at the end of the second semester. Students enrolled in this program can take the Proficiency Exam (PIE) even if they do not meet the attendance requirement. However, if they meet the attendance requirement, a percentage of the scores they achieve on assessments administered during the program is added to their Proficiency Exam (PIE) scores at the end of the relevant module, as determined by the School of Foreign Languages.
This program will start on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. Course details, including class lists and course schedules, will be announced on our SFL website on Monday, February 09, 2026. You can sign up for the Pre-Faculty program via this link: https://forms.gle/caYArz35G7a1VAdy7. The deadline to register for the PIE Success Program is Thursday, January 29, 2026, 16.00.
Support students who were not successful in the IYS Exam held on January 22–23, 2026, will continue in the Support Program.
We wish you success.
