ENGLISH I (ING 101)

EXEMPTION EXAM INFORMATION

• The ING 101 Exemption Exam will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
• The exam duration is 60 minutes.
• Exam Room: E214
• As the exam begins with the listening section, students are expected to be in the exam room at least 30 minutes before the exam starts.
• The exam begins with the listening section.
  • The listening section consists of 2 separate parts.
  • Each listening part will be played twice.
• Students who arrive late:
  • Students may enter the exam room between the two listening parts.
  • Students admitted at this time can not answer the questions from the listening part they missed. The invigilator will mark the questions belonging to the part the student did not listen to accordingly on the exam paper.
  • If a student misses the entire listening section, the invigilator will mark all listening questions on the exam paper with a “U” to indicate that they are not to be answered.
  • Any answers given to questions from a listening part that the student did not listen to will be considered invalid.
• Students who arrive late will not be given additional time.
• Students who arrive more than 20 minutes late WILL NOT BE ADMITTED to the exam room.
• Students must bring their student ID cards. Students without a valid photo ID will not be admitted to the exam.
• Students should bring a soft-lead pencil and an eraser.
• All mobile phones and electronic devices (smartwatches, tablets, earphones, etc.) must be switched off and kept out of reach. Before leaving their devices at the invigilator’s desk, students must make sure that all notifications, including sounds, alarms, and vibration, are turned off.
• Students must sit in their assigned seats and must not change seats without permission.
• Students may bring water; however, notes, books, or notebooks are not permitted on their desks.
• Students must listen carefully to the instructions given by the invigilator before the exam begins.
• After receiving the exam booklet, students must remember to sign the declaration on the front page of the booklet.
• Students must write their name, surname, and student number on the front page of the exam booklet.

DURING THE EXAM

• Answers to the multiple-choice questions must be marked in the exam booklet. Students are responsible for any marking errors. Questions left blank will not be scored.
• Only one answer must be marked for each question. Marking more than one answer for a question will be considered invalid.
• Incorrect answers do not cancel out correct answers.
• Students are not permitted to leave the exam room during the first 20 minutes. Leaving the exam room without permission is prohibited. In an emergency, students may leave only when accompanied by the staff member on duty in the corridor.
• All instructions given by the invigilator must be followed.
• Silence must be maintained at all times. Disruptive behavior and cheating, including exchanging materials or using a dictionary, are prohibited.
• In suspicious circumstances, invigilators may warn students, change their seats, or file an official incident report.
• Students who are permitted by the invigilator to leave the exam room must not wait in the corridors, gather in groups, or make noise.

AFTER THE EXAM

• At the end of the exam, students must remain seated quietly and wait for the invigilator’s instructions.
• In cases of rule violations (missing documents, misconduct, cheating, etc.), the exam may be considered invalid and disciplinary action may be taken.
• Students must sign the attendance sheet before leaving the exam.
• Students may leave the exam room quietly with the invigilator’s permission.
• Exam results will be announced via OBS (Student Information System) on the date specified in the academic calendar.
